This six-day safari immerses you in Katavi National Park, one of Tanzania’s most secluded and pristine wildlife destinations. Your journey begins with a flight from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar directly into Katavi, followed by expertly guided game drives along the Katuma River, and visits to Lakes Katavi and Chada. Day 1: Arrival in Katavi – Initial Game Drive
Begin with a scheduled flight from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar to Katavi. Upon arrival, your professional guide will receive you and arrange transfer to your lodge or tented camp within the park. After a welcome lunch and orientation, proceed on your first afternoon game drive along the Katuma River floodplains. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Viewing – Katuma River
After breakfast, embark on a comprehensive game drive along the Katuma River, a focal point for large herds of buffalo and elephants. The area is also home to crocodiles and hippos. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush to maximize your time in the field. Evening return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Lake Katavi Exploration
Spend the morning at Lake Katavi, a seasonal waterbody attracting significant populations of waterbirds and grazing antelope. Remain alert for predator activity, including lions and hyenas. Lunch at camp is followed by an optional relaxed afternoon game drive or a guided walk in the vicinity of your accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Game Drive to Lake Chada

Day 5: Flexible Safari Activities

Day 6: Departure – Return Flight
After breakfast, participate in a final early morning game drive before your transfer to the airstrip for your return flight to Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar, concluding your Katavi safari experience.
