3 Days Fly-In Safari: Dar es Salaam, Mikumi, Nyerere (Selous)
Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Fly to Mikumi National Park
Your safari begins in Dar es Salaam, where you board a morning domestic flight to Mikumi National Park.
As you fly inland, the scenery shifts from coastal urban landscapes to vast savannah plains. Upon landing, you are transferred to your lodge inside or near the park.
After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive in the famous Mkata floodplain. Mikumi offers excellent wildlife visibility, including zebras, giraffes, elephants, wildebeests, and lions often seen across the open plains.
The wide horizons make Mikumi ideal for photography and relaxed safari viewing.
Day 2: Mikumi – Fly to Nyerere National Park (Selous)
After breakfast, you transfer by short bush flight or road connection (depending on package option) to Nyerere National Park, one of Africa’s largest and most untouched wilderness areas.
Upon arrival, you are transferred to your lodge or tented camp near the Rufiji River. After lunch and rest, enjoy a sunset boat safari.
The Rufiji River is full of life hippos in pods, crocodiles along sandy banks, and abundant birdlife including fish eagles and kingfishers. Elephants are often seen approaching the river to drink in the evening light.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive – Return to Dar es Salaam
Your final day begins with an early morning game drive in Nyerere National Park, when wildlife is most active.
Expect elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, and possibly African wild dogs in remote areas. The park’s vast size ensures a deep wilderness experience with minimal tourist traffic.
After a bush breakfast or short game drive, you take a return flight back to Dar es Salaam, marking the end of your short but immersive safari.
