Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Fly to Mikumi National Park
Your journey begins in Dar es Salaam, where you board a morning domestic bush flight to Mikumi National Park.
As you fly inland, the landscape transitions from coastal city to endless savannah plains. Upon landing, you are transferred to your lodge inside or near the park.
After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive in the famous Mkata floodplain. Mikumi offers excellent wildlife visibility, with zebras, giraffes, elephants, wildebeests, and lions commonly seen across open plains.
The wide horizons make it perfect for photography and relaxed game viewing.
Day 2: Mikumi – Drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park
After breakfast, you take a short scenic transfer to Udzungwa Mountains National Park, part of Tanzania’s Eastern Arc Mountains and one of the country’s richest biodiversity hotspots.
The environment changes dramatically from dry savannah to lush rainforest, mist-covered hills, and flowing rivers. Upon arrival, you check into your lodge near the forest edge.
In the afternoon, enjoy a guided hike into the rainforest. The trail passes through dense vegetation filled with monkeys, birds, and unique plant species. The highlight is the Sanje Waterfalls, where water cascades into natural pools surrounded by forest cliffs.
Day 3: Udzungwa – Return to Dar es Salaam
Early morning begins with a short nature experience or optional return visit to the waterfall area depending on timing.
After breakfast, you begin your transfer back to Dar es Salaam, either by road or combined flight connection depending on package selection.
You arrive in the afternoon or evening, marking the end of your short but diverse Tanzanian safari experience.
