Day 1: Dar es Salaam / Zanzibar – Fly to Ruaha National Park
Your journey begins with a morning bush flight from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar into Ruaha National Park, Tanzania’s largest and most untouched wilderness area.
As you descend, the landscape transforms into endless golden plains, ancient baobab trees, and dry river valleys. Upon arrival, you are transferred to your lodge or tented camp deep inside the park.
After lunch and relaxation, enjoy your first afternoon game drive. Ruaha introduces you to its raw wilderness, elephants moving in large herds, lions resting under baobabs, and antelope scattered across open savannah.
Day 2: Full-Day Safari in Ruaha Wilderness
Today is a deep exploration of Ruaha’s vast and remote ecosystem. Early morning and afternoon game drives take you across rugged terrain with very low tourist density.
Ruaha is known for its strong predator presence, including lions, leopards, and African wild dogs. You may also encounter large buffalo herds, giraffes, and rare antelope species such as sable and roan.
A bush picnic lunch keeps you inside the wilderness all day, maximising wildlife encounters and photography opportunities.
Day 3: Ruaha – Fly to Udzungwa Mountains National Park
After breakfast, you take a scenic bush flight from Ruaha to the Udzungwa Mountains, part of Tanzania’s Eastern Arc range known for its exceptional biodiversity.
The scenery changes dramatically from dry savannah to lush green rainforest, waterfalls, and mist-covered peaks. Upon arrival, you are transferred to your lodge near the forest edge.
The afternoon is free for relaxation or short nature walks, preparing for your trekking experience the next day.
Day 4: Udzungwa Waterfalls Trekking Experience
Today is a full immersion into Udzungwa Mountains National Park, one of Tanzania’s most unique ecological treasures.
You begin a guided hike through dense rainforest filled with endemic plant species, monkeys, and rare birds found nowhere else in the world. The trail leads to the spectacular Sanje Waterfalls, a multi-tiered cascade dropping into natural forest pools.
You can swim, relax, and enjoy panoramic views over the Kilombero Valley. This is a perfect balance of adventure, nature, and relaxation in a tropical mountain environment.
Return to your lodge in the afternoon for rest and overnight stay.
Day 5: Udzungwa – Return to Dar es Salaam / Zanzibar
After breakfast, you begin your return journey by road transfer to Dar es Salaam, or onward connection to Zanzibar depending on your travel plan.
This marks the end of your 5-day safari experience combining Ruaha’s raw wilderness with Udzungwa’s lush rainforest and waterfalls.
