Udzungwa Mountains National Park is part of the Eastern Arc Mountains, a chain stretching from Southern Kenya to south-central Tanzania. Covering 1,990 km² in the Iringa and Morogoro regions, it features the greatest altitudinal range of forest in Tanzania.

Culture and History

The name “Udzungwa” likely derives from the “Wadsungwa” tribe living on the mountain slopes. The park also contains culturally important natural caves such as Mwanaruvele and Magombereka, alongside sacred sites like Bokela (Mountain God) and the Nyumbanitu and Ndundulu Mountains.
